I think it is about time we made CHONG into an adjective: "OMG! Your new blog is sooo CHONG!"

By "Naan n' Curry peeps" are you trying to tell me that those easter marshmallow chicks come dusted with curry?? ...I'd try it.

I meant the kitchen staff ate a box of cookies intended for the proprietor of this blogspace. Ewww curry on chocolate...that's not so sexy.

Alan:
Chong is an utterance frequently made by our beloved phonetics gsi. He says it in "monster voice." Chong is said in a very agitated manner, and sometimes followed by cries of "Bai!" to display his amazing ability to make the implosive b followed of course by a nasalized vowel. Oh, wondrous gsi, how we love thee.

btw, do we get to see you this weekend???

Agreed, chocolate curry would be disgustingly...Chong? I was just making sure that there wasn't some new type of Easter candy I wasn't informed about =P

And yes I will be making an appearance this weekend for The Forth Annual SLUgS Symposium, to basically take photos and get in the way. I'm sure I'll make other appearances this weekend too =)

Who is GSIing 110 this year? We had Jenny. She was...Jenny. Total space case. Our best-ever GSI was Johnny, in 120. On on my eval form I said something to the effect that they should bronze him, but only if they could do it from the neck down, so that he could continue to be THE BEST GSI EVER.

I just found out that one of the other new English teachers at my high school just graduated from Cal as an English major with an emphasis in linguistics...I knew he looked familiar! Anyway he said he took Kristin Hanson's class (179? Linguistics in Literature) and he had the WORLD'S WORST GSI and she was in our department. I have been racking my already-overworked brain to think who that might be ever since...

Clearly I am starved for departmental gossip. sigh...

I hear so many good stories about Johnny, and I'm so jealous that I didn't have syntax with you all. I have always wanted to get a 10+ on a HW. The check plus just isn't the same.
Christian and Mischa are gsi-ing 110, and they along with Prof. Johnson make for such a pleasant phonetics experience =) I love being in Christian's section, and he's definitely up there for best gsi ever in my book. Department gossip IS the best.
